A
Letter from Mark Lecce, Chair of the B&CRAO Safety Task
Force
To our
members, as we approach the anniversary of the tragic swingstage
incident, let us not forget those who lives were lost
in construction accidents, but remember them by the way we
move forward to protect those who may be at risk in the future.
The political
review panel led by Tony Dean has completed their report and
made recommendations. To download a copy of the report please

Alternatively, please visit the Ministry's website at www.labour.gov.on.ca.
B&CRAO
was a stakeholder and actively participated in the Panels
review. During these numerous and in depth meetings, Mr. Dean
was made aware of our Associations position as documented
in our health & safety brief. Although some of our recommendations
are discussed in the report, there is still a lot of work
to be done. This report makes recommendations that only if
implemented, will truly change the fundamentals of the governing
health and safety systems and the resulting effect on our
industry and the construction industry as a whole.
The Safety
Task Force continues to meet with the Regulatory Review Committee
and we are approaching the final stages of the proposed changes
to the Act as it relates to Suspended Access Equipment. When
completed, the draft changes will be distributed to the membership.
I would
like to wish our members and their families a safe and happy
holiday and a prosperous New Year,
Mark Lecce
V.P.
